# Dynamic Attributes

Some production data doesn't fit Kanoa's standard event types. How many people were working a manual line? Which batch of packaging film was loaded? What did the operator read off a gauge at the start of the shift? **Dynamic attributes** store values like these as time-stamped events against an asset, so you can ask what the value was at any point in time and report on it alongside OEE.

:::info[When to use a dynamic attribute]
Use one when the value is custom, changes over time, and the time it changed matters. If Kanoa already has a home for the data, use that instead: counters for counts, state events for downtime, item states for scrap, and custom properties for configuration that rarely changes.

In this section you will:

- Create a `Crew Size` dynamic attribute and link it to Manual Pack 1.
- Record values by hand, then from an operator entry screen built with Kanoa's ready-made views.
- Read the current value back with the `system.kanoa.attribute` functions.
