Solution Modules

Kanoa MES is delivered as a single Ignition module that installs on an Ignition Gateway. After installation, you enable different capability sets by applying the licenses you’ve purchased.

We refer to these licensed capability sets as Solutions:

This helps keep the terminology clear:

  • Kanoa MES = the one software module you install on the Gateway
  • Solutions (Ops / Trace / Quality) = the licensed feature sets that are enabled within that module

What is an Ignition module?​

An Ignition module is a packaged extension that installs into the Ignition Gateway to expand what the Ignition platform can do. Modules can add new gateway features, designer resources, scripting functions, and runtime capabilities.

Kanoa MES follows this model:

  1. Pre-configure a database-connection and tag-provider for Kanoa in your Ignition Gateway
  2. Install the Kanoa MES module into that Ignition Gateway
  3. During installation, we will automatically set up your kanoaCore database schema and Kanoa Tag provider (for the kanoaCore database)
  4. Apply your licenses to enable the Solutions you need, or try out the solution in Trial mode

Why Solutions?​

Manufacturers rarely need “everything” on day one, and requirements evolve over time. Kanoa’s Solutions approach lets you:

  • start with a strong operational foundation
  • expand into traceability and quality when the scope demands it
  • keep a single deployment model (one Gateway module) while growing functionality through licensing

Overview of Kanoa Solutions​

Kanoa Ops​

Kanoa Ops is the required foundation for any Kanoa MES deployment. It establishes the core manufacturing structures and execution workflows that other Solutions build on. It also provides your platform for asset and material definitions, order management, shift management, running production, and tracking OEE.

Kanoa Trace​

Kanoa Trace adds material tracking and genealogy capabilities, helping you understand where materials came from, where they went, and how they moved through production.

Kanoa Quality​

Kanoa Quality adds tools for quality workflows such as tests, specifications, inspections, and electronic forms—supporting consistent data capture and compliance-oriented processes.
