Storeroom and Stocking Policies
A storeroom is an inventory asset: a node in your asset model where stock is kept. Modelling it as an asset puts stock in the same hierarchy as the machines it serves.
Create the Parts Room
- Navigate to Configuration → Ops → Assets. If
CoreForge\Philadelphia\Storagedoesn't exist yet (you create it in the Trace course), add it as an area. - Under
Storage, add an asset namedParts Room.
A stocking policy sets the rules for one part in one storeroom. The same part can have different rules in different storerooms.
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Min / Max | The acceptable range of stock on hand |
| Reorder point | When stock on hand falls to this level, reorder |
| Reorder qty | How much to order |
| Safety stock | The last-resort buffer: falling below it means an urgent shortage |
| Cycle count | How often, in days, the part should be physically counted |
| Is stocked | Whether the part is actively managed here |
Set the stocking policies
-
In Inventory → Parts, expand
CF-INS-CNMG432and click Set Policy (the shield icon) for the Parts Room. -
Enter these policies, all stocked:
Part Min Max Reorder point Reorder qty Safety stock Cycle count (days) CF-INS-CNMG43220 100 30 50 10 30 CF-BRG-70142 6 2 4 1 90 CF-FLT-COOL104 24 6 12 2 30 CF-HOSE-07510 50 15 25 5 90
note
If the Parts Room isn't listed under a part yet, receive some stock first (Receive and Issue Stock), then come back and set the policy.
Set the reorder point above the safety stock. The reorder point starts replenishment in good time; safety stock is what you live on while the order arrives.
