When would you use a model BOM instead of an asset BOM?

When several assets are the same equipment model and share a standard parts list. Use the asset BOM for additions or overrides on one machine. See Bill of Materials.

What does a BOM position record?

Where on the asset a part is fitted, such as S1 Spindle bearings, with the quantity fitted there. See Build an Asset BOM.
